If you want to understand the Plantagenet dynasty this book and the preceding ones of the series are a must read. As a historian, I cannot find much that is either inaccurate or not objective. His writing is readily accessible to any reader. He further develops each historical actor's character in detail in a way that is not full of needless conjecture. Although written in the early 1960s, the author questions the now raging debate about the motivations of Richard III and the likely murderers of the Princes in the Tower. Further fair and accurate analysis is seen in his treatment of Edward II. Throughout three volumes, the author is able to draw certain character traits that in essence tie the Plantagenet dynasty together over three centuries. Magnificent historical work!
